Lincoln County Democrats will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Wednesday, April 25th, the evening before ballots are mailed. Twelve candidates or representatives are scheduled to attend to give their introductions and answer questions: Peter Wright, who is running for U.S. Congress, David Gomberg, for State Representative, both Russell Baldwin and Thomas Branford, who are running for Judge of Lincoln County District 17 and Virginia Demaris, Kim Herring, Doug Hunt, Betty Kamikawa and Kaety Jacobson, all of whom are running for County Commissioner positions. Congressman Kurt Schrader will send his campaign manager to represent him and a representative will speak on behalf of Caddy McKeowan for her re-election for State House District 9. Val Hoyle who is a candidate for Commissioner for the Bureau of Labor and Industries will also be sending a representative.
The meeting will begin at 6pm with a social, followed at 6:30 by a short business meeting and the candidate forum.
The venue is Atonement Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Coast Highway in Newport.
We are inviting Democratic candidates for partisan offices, and all candidates for contested non-partisan offices to speak at our regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Social period 6-6:30; meeting starts at 6:30. Candidates will speak in ballot order. They will speak for 3-5 minutes with Q&A following. The meeting is open to the Press and Public, but priority for asking questions will be given to current Precinct Committee Persons. Only current PCPs may vote on resolutions or official business. Further details will be posted as candidates respond to their invitations.
