BREATH AND BALANCE CLASS
60+ ACTIVITY CENTER
We all need good breathing techniques and balance in our lives. “About one in three people over age 65 falls at least once a year – and 10-15 percent of these falls result in serious injury,” according to a 2017 PHD study.
Our Breath and Balance class practices the integration of sensory and motor systems, including: breathing, vision, and the ability to sense where your body is in space. To stay steady, we need good body strength and reaction time. We practice slow, balanced, low-impact movements. At the end of class, we “have a ball.” These vinyl balls are also called stability balls. They are handy helpers for improving balance. Working in a group provides social interaction and support. A sense of well-being comes from an hour of deliberate movement while focusing on breath. Join our class at the 60+ Activity Center on Wednesdays and Fridays, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
