Brain Function and Brain Health

February 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

On Thursday, February 7, from 2-3 p.m. the Newport 60+ Activity Center will host a presentation on brain health. The brain is a three-pound universe that uses 100 billion neurons that connect at more than 500 trillion points through synapses that travel 300 miles per hour to form memories, thoughts and feelings.
In this discussion, we will talk about brain function across the lifespan, from a socio-emotional point of view, with a focus on the adult brain. We will talk about different types of cognition, and end with recommendations about lifestyle changes each of us can do to promote brain health.
The speaker, Marie Laper, is an Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialist, serving Lincoln County. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 30 years of experience in Behavioral Health. Marie is also a member of the 60+ Advisory Board.
The 60+ Activity Center is located at 20 SE 2nd Street in Newport, or give us a call at 541-265-9617 for more information.
