Benefit for the Newport Food Pantry
The Oregon Coast Recorder Society will perform music old and new on Sunday, March 10, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The event will benefit the Newport Food Pantry.
The program includes a medieval estampie, dances and pop tunes from the renaissance including “A Browninge” by James Baldwyn and variations on “Sellenger’s Round by William Byrd. Among the contemporary pieces, there will be two recent compositions by composers here in Oregon, Phil Neuman’s “Fantasia on ‘Faithless Nancy Dawson’ and Charlene Marchi’s “O Come Adore Him”. The group performs on a variety of recorders, gemshorns, krummhorns, cello, guitar. 
    Donations of nonperishable food items, checks, or cash are accepted as admission. All proceeds will go to the Newport food pantry to support its work. 
    First Presbyterian Church of Newport is located at 227 NE 12th Street in Newport.        The Oregon Coast Recorder Society rehearses every week and is open to recorder players or other musicians interested in early music. For more information, call (541) 961-1228 or visit our website
